On October 10th from 2:00-5:00pm we will be available for mini studio sessions on our fall harvest scenic set at Random Studios in Everett WA. Spots are limited so we encourage you to get on our calender quickly to schedule your session. Studio is located at: 2815 Baker Ave. Everett, WA 98201

Yesterday was a big day for us...a request casting for Chloe by Nordstrom's.
As her mom, I was especially hopeful because Nordstrom was my first big client and throughout my modeling days I was often booked for their catalogs and store posters.

At the casting, Chloe did everything right. She was excited and radiated confidence. The art director had her try an outfit on to do a few shots of her in and the clothes fit perfectly! She popped off about 5 beautiful frames with variations in expression and poses. I was very proud!

At this point, you are all probably wondering, "did she get the booking?...just tell us!" So, I'm getting to that. This morning while Chloe was at school, the agency let me know that she did not get the booking. I was not looking forward to telling Chloe the news even though I was confident she would take it well. Still, rejection is rejection and none of us enjoy enduring that feeling.

I remembered when I started modeling it took me a couple of tough years to get my career off the ground. In Los Angeles and NYC I must have gone on hundreds of castings that mostly resulted in rejection. I remembered suddenly that how I broke through the ceiling was really the cliche that opportunity happens when hard work meets a stroke of luck, or something like that anyway. This is the case with most things in life worth having but in the modeling industry this is the norm.

In modeling rejection is simply par for the course. It takes a LOT of confidence to be a model and what better way to build confidence than to have it tested and still remain intact and whole. Despite some opinion, modeling is not always the cake life and getting "discovered" really only happens in movies or fairy tales. In actuality, most models endure years of rejection before finally getting that one booking that triggers a snow ball affect and you begin working steadily. This was how it happened for me and I know many other models who experienced it exactly the same way. Supermodel Cindy Crawford for example was told by many photographers, clients and agents that she would never have a successful career unless she had her trademark mole surgically removed! She stuck to her guns by not succombing to that wrongful advice and a supermodel career was launched!

Modeling requires patience, confidence, desire and thick skin. Since Chloe has all that so I began to feel better about delivering the unfortunate news that she didn't get the Nordstroms booking....this time. There would be others! As long as she wants to do this, I will not question whether all the rejection will be damaging to her young self esteem. I will just make make sure she knows she should never take any casting rejection personally and why she should never doubt herself.

bambini logo contest

bambini is looking for some creative kids to join our design team. Parents, are you often impressed with your kid's drawing abilities and creativity? If so, this is for them! We are looking for a new logo design for our website!

Simply have your child draw us a design with our name bambini Studio. (Our "b" is intentionally uncapitilized so please take note of that.) We'd love to see our name appear as the focus of the design and that their concept incorporate our provided services...children's photography. Other than that, they can bring their imagination to the piece and feel free to express their inner master artist!

Our winning design get's a complimentary photoshoot, recognition on our fanpage and blog AND the joy of seeing their design on our website!!

Guidelines:
Open to ages 4-14

All submissions must be received by March 1, 2010
Our winning design will be my vote which will take place March 3, 2010. Our winner will be selected by March 5, 2010.
Submissions need to be clear and done in marker only, unless created online. Photoshop/paint drawings are also accepted as long as the child receives no parent help.

** Although our contest is open to all children, due to geographic contraints we can only award the complimentary photoshoot to a child who resides in or around Seattle and neighboring counties, however, our contest is still open to all children of our fans and winning entry will be published on our website, blog and fanpage! The outdoor location for the photoshoot will be determined together with parent after consultation, i.e a park setting, beach, urban location, etc.
** complimentary photo shoot is of our winning bambini artist. This is our signature bambini session, a value of $150. Package details can be viewed on our website, bambinistudio.com, under the pricing tab.
** Our winning logo will be published on our website for 2-4 months. At such time, bambini reserves the right to update logo or leave published on site for unspecified amount of time.

bambini is gearing up for 2010!

Happy New Year!

Our goals for 2010 start with providing our wonderful clients and future clients with exceptional products and photographic services. As parents ourselves, our expectations from products used by our children is that they are safe, natural and beneficial. With that expectation in mind, we sought out products we would be happy to use in our family.

bambini is excited that the first of our retail plans is expected to launch by month end. Our store will include our unique and adorable baby shower gift baskets!! These sets will include a gift certificate for a photography session and a variety of sweet baby essentials such as booties, baby blankets in minky cheetah prints with matching totes, all natural free products free of dyes and irritating ingredients for mom to be and baby, hand made goats milk baby bar soaps, and more!
